Rushdie in Delaware - I've got a proposition for ya
I will be out of town when Salman Rushdie and Joyce Carol Oates will be speaking in Delaware. If you will be attending, then I have a proposition for you. If you go to the gala event and are willing to write an article about the experience, I'd be willing to post it. Mind you, I have final editing rights.

Lisa, I'm going to see Oates and Rushdie Friday. We couldn't have afforded it but my husband scored a couple comps (now all we need to do is FIND A BABYSITTER!). We obviously won't be attending the $1000 meet-the-author shindig. I'm so glad you'll get to see Oates at the Free Library.
I'll be happy to let you know what I consider the highlights of the evening, but I have read embarrassingly little of either author and so am not a very informed audience member (nor am I a reporter). Maybe someone else who reads your blog can produce a proper article on it.

Oh dear--I reread your post on Oates and see that you probably weren't planning on seeing her last night. ;) But I do know Rushdie's on your "to do" list for 2006. May you find him and get that chat you're hankering for.
