Fiction Writing Workshop

If you are a fiction writer in the Philadelphia area and you are looking for feedback, I encourage you to attend the Fiction Workshop held at the University of Pennsylvania.

I just attended a five week session and I learned a lot about my own writing but I also learned by reviewing other writers' techniques and styles (both well known published writers as well as classmates). Attendees submit work to be critiqued (workshopped) and in the following class feedback is provided by the professor as well as fellow students.

To improve, writers need to get honest feedback that points out the positive as well as what can be worked on and this workshop is a great way to do so.

Don't worry, the Adventures of Jill and Lisa will continue - we're just taking a bit of a break for the holiday.

  • My pleasure. I just got your email and I wanted to apologize for the link. The university hasn't listed all of the non-credited classes for next term yet. I’m guessing they’ll do that later this month. I think the class is offered every term. There is also a non-credit non-fiction class that’s held and I believe that is also conducted each term.

You can also search on U of P's site for Kelly's Writers House. That's the campus writing center. They should have information on various writing related campus activities.

I think all forms of fiction are welcomed but literary fiction is the most common format.
